Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential support for elementary-aged students in a specialized learning environment. A therapeutic school is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a short-term medical leave position, beginning August 3rd. You'll work in a nurturing setting that prioritizes social-emotional well-being over traditional academics, making a meaningful impact every day. Your classroom will consist of just three elementary students, offering you the chance to deliver personalized instruction and attention. Each class is supported by both a dedicated paraprofessional and a teacher, fostering collaboration and continuous support. This role is full-time, with 40 hours per week and paid lunch breaks, ensuring a balanced workday.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field Active Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility to obtain one) Previous experience in a therapeutic, behavioral, or specialized educational setting preferred Strong communication, patience, and adaptability to meet unique student needs Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for students with varying abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized plans focused on social-emotional and therapeutic growth Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure consistent, quality support for each student Maintain a safe, nurturing classroom environment that encourages student engagement Monitor and report on student progress and well-being Adapt strategies to accommodate changes in student needs Take advantage of an environment that values individualized learning and collaboration.
