Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Seeking talented Special Education Teachers for several rewarding, full-time contract positions beginning August 2026 through May 2027. These roles are ideal for educators passionate about supporting diverse learners and positively shaping student growth within a collaborative and innovative school environment located near Manhattan, IL. Opportunities include a 6th-grade co-teaching position with a projected caseload of 11 students (exceptionalities served:
SLD & OHI
), as well as two direct instruction positions serving grades K-3 with a projected caseload of 10 students (exceptionalities:
OHI, AUT, SLD, ID, DD
).
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field Valid state licensure/certification as a Special Education Teacher (or eligibility to obtain) Experience working with students with a range of exceptionalities, including
SLD, OHI, AUT, ID, DD
Strong skills in classroom management, IEP development and implementation, and differentiated instruction Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Responsibilities:
Co-teach in a 6th-grade inclusion classroom or provide direct instruction for K-3rd grade students as assigned Develop and deliver individualized education plans tailored to student needs Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to foster academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
