Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher at a therapeutic school near Jasper, GA. This position begins August 3rd and provides short-term coverage for a medical leave, with potential for an undetermined extension. You'll be working in an engaging, low-stress environment, where the focus is on fostering student well-being, emotional support, and social skills development rather than rigorous academics. In your classroom, you'll work closely with a dedicated paraprofessional, supporting just three elementary-aged students. This setting provides a truly individualized educational experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact each and every day.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Current Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) in Georgia Prior experience in therapeutic, behavioral, or self-contained classroom settings is highly valued Strong ability to adapt instructional approaches and behavior management techniques Demonstrated patience, empathy, and collaboration skills Enthusiastic about supporting students' emotional and social growth
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction and create a supportive, nurturing classroom climate Collaborate with your classroom paraprofessional to address student needs Utilize therapeutic strategies to promote self-regulation and social success Communicate progress and challenges with families, therapists, and school leadership Keep accurate documentation and support any IEP requirements
