Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity awaits an experienced Special Education Teacher specializing in Cognitive Impairments (CI) for a contract assignment beginning August 11, 2026, and concluding June 4, 2027. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated educational team to support a caseload of 17 students in kindergarten through second grade. Working approximately 37.5 hours per week, you'll help nurture academic and personal growth in young learners. Ideal candidates possess a passion for inclusive education and a commitment to facilitating individual student success. Effective communication, organization, and classroom management skills are essential for delivering tailored instruction and fostering a welcoming classroom environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Current and valid teaching certification in Special Education, with an endorsement or experience serving students with cognitive impairments (CI) Proven background as a Special Education Teacher, preferably with primary grade students (K-2) Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring for diverse learners Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education staff, and families Proficient in supporting positive behavior intervention strategies and differentiated instructionKey Responsibilities:
Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students with cognitive impairments Implement individualized education programs (IEPs), regularly assessing student progress Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages growth and self-confidence Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and multidisciplinary teams regarding student development Provide guidance and supervision to paraprofessional staff as needed This contract offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young students while working alongside knowledgeable colleagues.
