Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a dynamic teaching opportunity supporting exceptional students for the 2026-2027 school year! We're seeking passionate Special Education Teachers to empower learners through self-contained and inclusive programs. These contract positions are designed for educators inspired to foster growth and achievement among students with diverse needs.
Available positions include:
2 openings for Elementary RISE (Autism Self-Contained) programs 1 opening for Middle School RISE (Autism Self-Contained) program 1 opportunity in Elementary AIM (low incidence life skills) 2 positions supporting SEL (social emotional learning) for elementary and middle school students with emotional and behavioral needs
Desired Background and Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification as required in Illinois Experience working with students in autism and/or low-incidence programs is highly valued Familiarity with behavior intervention and individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and students Adaptability to deliver differentiated instruction and support varied learning profiles Dedication to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging, individualized instructional plans based on student IEPs Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet each student's unique needs Foster classroom environments that support skill development, social-emotional growth, and independence Collaborate regularly with multidisciplinary teams including related service providers and general education staff Engage in ongoing communication with families to deliver updates on progress and support strategies Utilize data to monitor, assess, and guide instructional practice for student success This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students while growing as an educational professional.
