Boise School District Support Staff - A Rewarding Career Serving Students & Our Community () Excel - Students with emotional and behavioral disabilities receive instruction in a setting outside of the general education classroom and/or are provided special education supports within general education classrooms, as appropriate. Specialized instruction in academic, social and behavioral skills is provided on an individual and small-group basis. Students assigned to these classrooms are included into general education classes as appropriate. These classrooms typically have 10-12 students and one to two classroom assistants. Once hired, you may be reassigned to another special education classroom or location depending on District need. New-to-District Classified employees may be eligible to receive credit for up to two years' worth of credit for movement (steps) on the Classified Salary Schedule based on relevant prior work experience. Please complete the top portion of this form and provide it to your previous employer for completion. To qualify, newly hired employees must provide this form, completed by your former employer(s), to Human Resources no later than the date of their fingerprinting and appointment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to travel to all elementary and secondary locations. Graduation from high school, 48 college credit hours, OR Associates degree or higher (transcripts or copy of degree will be required upon hire), OR successful completion of the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis Exam (this exam may be taken after offer of employment has been extended, however, must be successfully completed prior to beginning employment). Classroom or other instructional experience is preferred. Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to assist students with physical and personal care needs including toileting, feeding, transferring, pushing, and to lift, move or reposition objects or students that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate patience in working with students of varying abilities and disabilities; Prepare and implement curriculum modifications; Prepare and maintain records and documentation; Work effectively with students of varied backgrounds and abilities; Maintain student and district confidentiality; Operate classroom instructional equipment, standard office equipment, and a personal computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, staff members, and other district personnel; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Acceptable Experience & Training High school diploma or GED equivalency; and Forty-eight (48) college credits or an Associate's Degree or successful completion of the ETS paraprofessional Praxis or equivalent; and Classroom or other instructional experience is preferred; and Google Suite experience is preferred; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform as an effective and competent Special Education Assistant. Essential Physical Abilities Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person, and to hear sounds within the normal range of conversation; Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to monitor classroom activities and comprehend written work instructions and comprehend, review, and prepare a variety of written and text documents and materials; Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate classroom instruction equipment and office equipment, including a personal computer; Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to stand or sit for long periods of time, to lift or move objects or students that weigh up to 50 pounds, and to work in a detention and classroom environment; Job tasks may require, with or without reasonable accommodation, running, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling lifting, and grasping.
