Continuing Purpose Statement:
Creates and maintains an inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool students with diverse learning needs. Collaborates with families and Multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with District curriculum, early learning standards, and student IEP goals. Provides instruction, behavioral support, supervision, and ongoing assessment to promote student growth across academic, communication, social-emotional, adaptive, and functional skill areas. Uses evidence-based practices and positive relationships to foster engagement, independence, and school readiness.Essential Functions :
Creates and maintains a safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, adaptive, and functional needs of preschool students, including students receiving special education services and students identified as at-risk. Plans and implements individualized and small-group instruction aligned with District curriculum, Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines, ECEAP performance standards, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborates effectively with ECEAP staff, related service providers, general education staff, paraeducators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success and ensure coordinated service delivery. Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations and timelines. Uses evidence-based instructional strategies, developmentally appropriate practices, positive behavior supports, and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Establishes and maintains positive classroom management systems and behavioral supports that foster student engagement, independence, self-regulation, and social development. Collects, analyzes, and interprets formal and informal student data to monitor progress, inform instruction, support intervention planning, and document student growth. Maintains accurate student records and prepares required reports, progress updates, evaluation documentation, and family communication in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Builds and maintains collaborative, respectful, and culturally responsive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to support meaningful family engagement and student achievement. Supervises and directs the work of assigned paraeducators and support staff; provides guidance regarding instructional practices, behavioral supports, safety procedures, and student care needs. Attends to or directs staff in supporting students' physical, emotional, behavioral, medical, safety, and hygienic needs in accordance with student plans and district procedures. Participates in professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, trainings, IEP meetings, transition planning meetings, and other district or building activities as required and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Demonstrates professional practice aligned to the Danielson instructional framework adopted by the District, including planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, assessment, collaboration, and professional responsibilities. Supports smooth student transitions between preschool programs, kindergarten, and other educational settings through collaboration, communication, and transition planning activities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and current, valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsements. Early Childhood Special Education certificate- preferred Demonstrate comprehensive content knowledge and understanding of teaching responsibilities and accountability procedures as required by the IDEA and
WAC 392-172A
Successful teaching experience in a related subject area and/or grade level is preferred. If no prior experience, must have successful student teaching experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management. Demonstrated knowledge of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated skill in the use of technology to enhance student learning is preferred Demonstrated classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instruction. Evidence of ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public. Demonstrated ability to use data in instructional design and adjustment Aware of current educational developments and applications. Demonstrated appreciation of and sensitivity to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different learning styles, and various disabilities. Willingness, interest, and commitment to participate in professional collaboration and student supervision. As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Deer Park Education Association (DPEA) and the Policies and Procedures of Deer Park School District.
