Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other related disabilities in a highly structured, self-contained, substantially separate classroom. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to fostering academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth, and excels at creating and maintaining organized systems that meet diverse student needs. The teacher will work closely with and oversee a team of paraprofessionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support throughout the day.
Job Qualifications:
Preferred skills include experience working with students with disabilities, ABA strategies/ training, and familiarity with using/ programming Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC) devices MA Special Education License Experience working with students with Autism Ability to collaborate with general education staff, service providers and paraprofessionals in an efficient manner to meet the needs of students Self motivated and solution focused Knowledge of IEP process including assessment, evaluation tools, writing and interpreting IEPS Able to design and implement specialized instruction to meet student learning goals as driven by IEPs
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead paraprofessionals working with students towards achieving academic and social successes Frequent communication with families Behavior support using de-escalation strategies Ability to be trained in Safety Care/ physical management techniques Personal care/Toileting Consultation and collaboration with Regular Education Teachers & related service staff Any and all other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator
