Westshire Elementary School seeks a caring and knowledgeable Special Education teacher to fill the combined role of Special Education Teacher/Case Manager (.60 FTE) and Title I Academic Interventionist (.40 FTE) to provide specially designed instruction in basic academic skills such as reading, writing, and math, as well as instruction in social, emotional, and behavioral skills. This position serves disabled students in grades K-5. The special education teacher/Title I interventionist must have training and experience in writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitoring student progress, and the ability to understand and follow legal regulations pertaining to the provision of special education and Title I intervention services. The Special Education teacher must have a high level of patience, empathy, and positivity for working with students with any type of disability. Teacher must work collaboratively with staff, administration, and parents on behalf of students. The Special Education teacher must work effectively as a member of a team, and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Organizational skills are essential.
