Aug 3, 2026 Job Description Mountain Home Public Schools is accepting applications for the position of Special Education Teacher / Assistant to Special Education Director; 2026-2027 school year;
Salary Schedule:
E; 220 day contract
QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet AR licensure requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, or science as assigned to students in a classroom, utilizing the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education Collaborates with general education teachers to provide support as outlined in student IEPs which include accommodations, co-taught, pullout, and push-in services Implements a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives and grade level expectations. Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction Assesses student performance results and develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the class including individualized and small group instruction as necessary in order to adapt the curriculum performance standards to the needs of each student Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual student's progress Identifies students' needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation Administers standardized assessments as mandated by the school district and state Supervises students on recess, bus, and before and after school duty and in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day Participates in curriculum development programs within the school of assignment and/or on a District level Completes all required Due Process paperwork within timelines and in accordance with IDEA and state regulations Assist with e-school reporting, Medicaid billing processes, records in and out of the district, and assistance with catastrophic filing, support special education staff with classroom recommendations, supports, procedures and conferences as deemed necessary Assist the supervisor with any tasks assigned Performs other duties as assigned These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.
