Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Northfield Elementary School, a warm and welcoming elementary school, seeks a teacher with Special Education licensure in Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities, for instruction with students in the early elementary grades. Our school has a fantastic Special Education team that will provide a supportive welcome to the selected candidate. Northfield Elementary School prioritizes hands-on and outdoor, environmental education for all students. We have a beautiful rural campus and make use of our natural surroundings whenever possible. The school enjoys deep support from the town, with many volunteers who provide enrichment activities for students. Key Responsibilities and Duties Instruction and Curriculum Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Adapt and modify the general education curriculum to meet the specific needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities Oversee the implementation of the curriculum implemented by Instructional Assistants Provide instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and daily living skills Teach functional skills and promote self-reliance and independence Assessment and Progress Monitoring Assess student needs and progress regularly Administer educational diagnostic tools Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP implementation Use data to inform instruction and adjust IEPs as needed Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other professionals to ensure student success Communicate regularly with parents and other stakeholders regarding student progress and IEP implementation Provide support and resources to parents and other professionals as needed Classroom Management and Environment Create a positive and inclusive learning environment Manage student behavior and maintain a safe and orderly classroom Other Responsibilities Chair IEP meetings and develop resulting IEPs Participate in other school events Attend professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge Adhere to state and federal laws, district policies, and administrative regulations The anticipated salary range for this position may be found in the salary grid for the Pioneer Valley Regional Education Association.
