Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding and impactful contract role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher. This full-time, onsite position is designed to cover a maternity leave, beginning in late September and concluding at the end of December. You'll work with sixth through eighth graders in a resource room setting, championing the educational growth and well-being of approximately 20 students. In this supportive environment, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in special education, collaborate with dedicated colleagues, and ensure your students feel empowered and understood. Your commitment will help maintain educational stability and excellence during this key period.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification) Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's preferred) Previous experience with middle school students or similar caseloads Strong understanding of IEP development, modifications, and data-driven instruction Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families and staff Organizational acumen to manage paperwork, deadlines, and student progress monitoring
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and individualized support to students in the 6th-8th-grade resource room Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, accommodating diverse learning needs Maintain regular communication with parents, teachers, and related service providers Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment Utilize assessment data to adjust instructional strategies Support students in achieving their academic, behavioral, and social goals This is a meaningful chance to make a difference while broadening your professional skills within a vibrant school community.
