Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year with the Brookwood Academy Therapeutic Day Program, located near Chesnee, SC. This contract position offers the rewarding opportunity to support and empower middle and high school students (grades 6-12) in a specialized educational environment focused on therapeutic approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals to support diverse learning and behavioral needs Design, adapt, and implement tailored lesson plans and classroom accommodations for each student Foster a structured, therapeutic classroom setting that encourages student growth and positive behaviors Collaborate regularly with therapists, behavior specialists, and support staff as part of a multidisciplinary team Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and report on academic and behavioral data Communicate proactively and compassionately with families and fellow educators regarding student achievements and needs
Qualifications:
Hold a valid Special Education teaching certification Preference given to candidates with prior experience in therapeutic, behavioral, or alternative education settings Demonstrated strength in classroom management and proactive behavior intervention strategies Skilled at building strong, supportive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Comfortable teaching middle school (6th-8th grade) or high school (9th-12th grade) students Take an active role in shaping student success within a supportive and collaborative environment.
