Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role serving K-12 students as a Special Education Teacher in the greater Chicago area. As a vital educator, you'll create inclusive and supportive learning environments, working with students who have a range of learning, emotional, and autism spectrum needs. This full-time contract position offers 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with immediate openings through the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement for K-22 Demonstrated experience developing and writing measurable IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals Prior experience working with students across a spectrum of abilities and disabilities, including learning, emotional, and autistic support needs Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Commitment to fostering student growth and success in an inclusive setting
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver differentiated instruction to diverse learners in K-12 classrooms Develop, implement, and monitor individual IEPs tailored to each student's unique strengths and challenges Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff Maintain regular communication with families and team members regarding student progress and goals Employ positive behavior support strategies and adapt curriculum as needed Document all services, accommodations, and progress notes in a timely and accurate manner
