Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract opportunity awaits for an experienced Special Education Teacher ready to make a meaningful impact in a K-12 school setting. This role focuses on providing instruction and support to students across elementary, middle, and potentially high school grades, with a current caseload of 11 elementary and 4 middle school students. The assignment spans the full academic year from August 2026 through May 2027, with a steady schedule of 35 hours per week and all responsibilities centered in a single school.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education (SPED) K-12 teaching license for South Dakota Experience working with students in special education settings across K-12 Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementing individualized instruction Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff Ability to adapt teaching strategies to a range of student needs and abilitiesKey Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for a diverse caseload of elementary and middle school students, with occasional high school involvement Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive and supportive learning environments Utilize differentiated instruction techniques to promote academic and social development Maintain thorough documentation, progress reports, and compliance with state and federal regulations Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and ongoing communication with educational teams This contract role provides the chance to work consistently at one location, allowing you to build strong relationships with your students and colleagues throughout the year.
