Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful opportunity supporting a medically fragile, bed-bound middle school student as a Special Education Teacher in a rewarding contract role. Situated just 15 minutes west of Philadelphia, this position offers the chance to make a long-term impact with a dedicated district seeking a compassionate and committed educator for a unique in-home setting. In this role, you'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team—including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists—each providing 2.5 hours weekly to the student's care plan. The student's family primarily speaks Spanish, so bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are preferred to bridge communication and foster a supportive environment. If you are a non-bilingual Special Education Teacher with a passion for individualized education, your expertise is still needed, as the district may provide interpreter support if required.
Key Requirements & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education certification, with experience in individualized and adapted instruction. Fluency in both Spanish and English strongly preferred. Experience working with medically fragile or bed-bound students is highly valued. Comfort collaborating with other service providers and maintaining consistent communication with families. Flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting a student through extended terms, potentially indefinitely.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tailored educational programs adapted to medical and physical needs. Document progress, modify interventions, and ensure alignment with IEP goals. Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment sensitive to cultural and family dynamics. Participate in team meetings and coordinate services with related providers. This year-round contract offers an invaluable chance for a caring educator to shape a student's academic journey, with potential for expanded hours over time.
