Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young learners by stepping into a pivotal Special Education teaching role for the 2026-2027 school year. Bring your expertise to supportive educational environments dedicated to empowering students with specialized needs. Multiple contract positions are available, each providing the opportunity to work collaboratively with teams in progressive programs.
Current openings include:
Special Education Teacher for an Autism Program (K-3rd Grade, focusing on Communication & Adaptive Behavior) Special Education Teacher for a Therapeutic Program (K-8th Grade, with highest need in grades 6-8, focusing on Social, Emotional, & Behavioral Needs) Special Education Early Childhood Teacher (Cross-Categorical, Preschool/Early Childhood, Self-Contained Half-Day Program, 2 sections)Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for Illinois, or eligibility for certification Experience or strong interest in serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, social-emotional, behavioral needs, or cross-categorical disabilities Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and individualized instructional strategies Ability to provide differentiated support aligned to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Excellent collaboration and communication skills to partner with multidisciplinary teams and families Empathetic, adaptable, and committed to supporting diverse learnersRole Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students' unique strengths and needs Administer assessments and track progress toward IEP goals Foster a positive, supportive classroom culture that encourages social and emotional development Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to optimize student outcomes Document interventions, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings Lead or assist in adaptive behavior and communication initiatives, or cross-categorical early childhood curriculum as appropriate to the assignment Step into an engaging, impactful environment where your skills and compassion help shape bright futures.
