Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference each day by supporting students in self-contained classrooms. This full-time contract role offers the chance to work closely with students in a nurturing, structured environment near Providence, RI. You'll be guiding no more than 10 students per classroom, ensuring each child receives targeted, individualized support. With the assistance of 3-6 dedicated paraprofessionals and a primary focus on students with Autism, you'll have the resources and teamwork you need for a rewarding educational experience.
Ideal candidates will bring:
Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher (state certification required) Experience teaching or supporting students with Autism or related developmental disabilities Demonstrated expertise in behavior management and applied behavioral strategies Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for a diverse range of learning needs Strong organizational and communication skills Collaborative spirit and willingness to mentor or coach paraprofessionals Key responsibilities: Deliver individualized and group instruction to students within a self-contained classroom setting Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with related service providers and families Utilize evidence-based practices tailored to students on the Autism spectrum Supervise and guide paraprofessionals to maximize classroom effectiveness Monitor student progress and adapt teaching for continued growth Communicate regularly with families and participate in team meetings Working here, you will be part of a dedicated team supported by a strong paraprofessional network, enabling you to focus on your students' unique strengths and challenges.
