Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Discover a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students' diverse learning needs in multiple Special Education teaching roles. Several positions are available, each offering unique experiences for passionate Special Education Teachers looking to make a significant difference at the elementary, middle, or transition level.
Openings include:
"Core" positions collaborating with teams of Special Education Teachers for co-teaching/inclusion, direct academic instruction, and pull-out supplemental services. Resource/Academic Seminar teaching focused on targeted academic support. Transition Teacher guiding students with disabilities in job placements, providing direct instruction, and managing select IEPs. 5K Transition Teacher leading a self-contained class for kindergarten-aged students with disabilities, supported by two assistants, and gradually facilitating inclusion with general education peers. Self-contained classroom teacher for grades 6-8, serving students with moderate disabilities, supported by two assistants.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility for certification. Experience with IEP development, student goal setting, and progress monitoring. Strong collaboration skills with instructional teams and classroom assistants. Ability to adapt lessons to diverse learners and utilize evidence-based strategies. Familiarity with both inclusion and self-contained teaching environments is a plus. Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom culture.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group academic instruction according to student needs. Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. Provide co-teaching and inclusion support within general classrooms as needed. Coordinate transitional services and job placements for students transitioning to post-school opportunities. Maintain ongoing communication with parents, staff, and related service providers. Support positive classroom management and facilitate student independence.
