Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding journey as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school environment near Kankakee, IL! This contract opportunity spans the full 2026-2027 academic year, with several full-time positions available focused on empowering students with diverse learning needs. Now is the perfect time to make a real difference—interviews are already underway. Several roles are open, including a 6th-grade co-teaching position with a projected caseload of approximately 11 students serving primarily
SLD & OHI
exceptionalities, as well as K-3rd grade direct instruction roles with caseloads of about 10 students, supporting OHI, AUT, SLD, ID, and DD exceptionalities. Bring your passion and expertise to a team dedicated to fostering inclusion and growth.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education teaching certification Experience working with students with SLD, OHI, AUT, ID, or DD preferred Proficiency in implementing IEPs and adapting instruction for individual learning needs Strong collaborative skills for co-teaching environments Effective communication with students, colleagues, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Co-teach in 6th grade or provide direct instruction for K-3rd grade students Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture Collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and family members Track student progress and maintain compliance with relevant documentation Competitive pay accompanies this opportunity, complemented by medical, dental, and vision insurance options to support your well-being.
