Qualifications:
Possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Possess a Bachelor's degree with a major in a Special Education area Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (preferred) Completion of START training (preferred) Experience with Illuminate (preferred)
Job Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Plan, implement, and adapt lessons aligned with state standards and IEP goals Deliver instruction in inclusive, resource room, and/or self-contained settings as assigned Assess student progress and collect data to monitor growth toward IEP goals Develop, implement, and review IEPs in collaboration with parents/guardians and multidisciplinary teams Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and re-evaluation processes Differentiate instruction and provide accommodations and modifications as required Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to support student success Manage and supervise paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom or caseload Implement positive behavior supports and behavior intervention plans as needed Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with IDEA, FERPA, and district policies Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Use evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions Integrate assistive technology and instructional supports as appropriate Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times as assigned Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and collaborative planning Uphold district policies, procedures, and professional ethics The Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, (including sexual orientation and transgender identity), disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category, (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
