Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Special Education Teacher — Frankfort, IL Area We are seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in the Frankfort, IL area. This position will run from August 2026 through May 2027 and will support students with multiple disabilities in a school-based setting. Multiple openings with both positions offering small caseload sizes and require a teacher who is confident with IEPs, classroom support, behavior management, and differentiated instruction.

Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor student Individualized Education Programs Provide direct instruction or co-teaching support depending on assigned role Adapt curriculum, lessons, and materials to meet individual student needs Support students with multiple disabilities in academic and functional skill development Collect data and monitor progress toward IEP goals Maintain special education documentation and compliance requirements Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and team conferences Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families Implement behavior supports and classroom management strategies Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment Support students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs
Requirements:
Active Illinois Professional Educator License w/ appropriate LBS1 endorsement Experience with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Strong classroom management and behavior support skills Ability to support students with multiple disabilities Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills Compensation for this position ranges from $33.05 to $53.05.
