Job Description
Primary Purpose:
The resource paraprofessional is to support the teacher to maximize his/her ability to educate and guide in the classroom.Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate Have met the formal academic assessment, an associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning• Valid Texas educational aide certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectivelyExperience:
Two years of experience working with childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Helping students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments, learning concepts/skills, reinforcing and reviewing materials taught in the classroom. Supporting students in the classrooms by providing accommodations dictated by their educational plan. Helping students develop mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Treating all children with dignity and respect. Assisting in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies. Giving tests/assessments in small groups. Maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the school. Maintaining confidentiality of all students' academic, emotional, social, and behavioral assessments and needs. Maintaining confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school. Providing support to struggling students or enriching students who have mastered standards. Other Maintain confidentiality. Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Supervisory Responsibilities:
