Job Description

The Pilates Reformer Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering safe, effective, and engaging Pilates instruction for participants of varying ages and fitness levels. This role leads private, semi-private, and group Reformer classes, providing appropriate modifications and progressions to meet individual needs and goals. The instructor creates a welcoming and inclusive environment while ensuring proper technique, alignment, and equipment use. This position supports member engagement and retention by delivering high-quality instruction and positive participant experience in alignment with facility standards. Lead safe, effective, and engaging Pilates Reformer classes for participants of varying fitness levels, offering appropriate progressions and modifications. Deliver high-quality instruction that emphasizes proper form, alignment, and injury prevention. Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating class environment that supports member retention and satisfaction. Provide exceptional customer service by building rapport with participants, addressing questions, and fostering a positive studio experience. Monitor participant safety at all times and respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies in accordance with established procedures; promptly communicate any concerns to the Fitness Coordinator. Maintain current knowledge of Pilates Reformer best practices and industry trends; participate in required training courses and continuing education as applicable. Ensure class start and end times are adhered to and that classes are adequately prepared in advance. Arrange for qualified substitute instructors when unable to teach a scheduled class, following department procedures. Set up, inspect, clean, and properly store all equipment before and after classes; maintain a clean, organized, and professional studio environment. Enforce all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in a professional and approachable manner. Support program growth and quality improvement by providing feedback, participant insights, and recommendations to the Fitness Coordinator. Assist with member engagement initiatives, special events, or workshops as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED). Must currently hold and maintain a CPR certification. Must currently hold and maintain a Pilates Reformer certification by a national accredited fitness-testing agency or Pilates Teacher training school. Previous teaching experience preferred. Must be self-motivated, the ability to work independently, and interact with people of all ages and abilities. Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment during stressful situations. Must have excellent customer service skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must currently hold and maintain an active CPR/AED certification. Must currently hold and maintain an active Pilates Reformer certification by a national accredited fitness-testing agency or Pilates Teacher training school. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have excellent customer service skills. Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment during stressful situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must currently hold and maintain an active CPR/AED certification. Must currently hold and maintain an active Pilates Reformer certification by a national accredited fitness-testing agency or Pilates Teacher training school.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Ability to work well with people of all ages and abilities.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Pilates Reformers and associated accessories. Ability to utilize and connect to AV system (Bluetooth).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
