DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Special Education Director and the site principal/designee, the Speech Language Pathologist shall provide an educational Speech/Language program for students identified with communication disorders. The program includes identification, assessment, cooperative planning, implementation, evaluation, coordination and follow-up with staff, students and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Oregon certification/licensure as determined by American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC's); Oregon Teacher Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC- Endorsement for Speech Impaired required); and/or Oregon State Board of Examiners of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologist. Certification for third-party Medicaid billing is preferred. Prefer experience/training in effective programming for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and educational orientation. Must have valid Oregon driver's license with insurance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Through screening and referral, those students with disorders of speech and language will be identified. Complete paperwork for IEP's and hold IEP Team meetings, as required in IDEA. Plan and present appropriate therapy programs that meet the needs of district students. Provide specially designed instruction and direct service to students eligible to receive services. Work with students individually and in small groups, both as pull-outs and in regular classroom settings. Provide a climate conducive to learning - stressing responsibility and skill development. Assess, prescribe, and evaluate student performance. Provide positive communication and interaction with students, staff, parents and the community. Supervise SLPAs and work cooperatively with other district staff to coordinate the district's program. Bill Medicaid for services rendered, as appropriate. Provide augmentative communication services. Uphold the state and federal laws, district policies/regulations and local school regulations. Travel between district schools. Carry out all duties assigned to all regular classroom teachers.
CONTRACT
0.5 FTE, 190-day yearly contract (in response to approved District calendar) Salary and benefits per the Licensed negotiated agreement. Applications will be accepted until filled
