Job Description
Job description Essentia Health is seeking a compassionate and patient-centered Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a variety of clinical settings. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team—including physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, and other care providers—to develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that support each patient's unique goals and promote optimal functional outcomes. As a Speech Language Pathologist at Essentia Health, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, interpret evaluation results, and clearly communicate findings and care plans to patients, families, and caregivers. You will design and deliver therapy sessions that incorporate best practices and current clinical research, regularly monitor and document patient progress, and adjust interventions as needed. Your work will include patient and family education on communication and swallowing strategies, use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools when indicated, and ongoing support to ensure carryover of skills in daily life. You will be part of an integrated health system that values holistic, patient-centered care and a culture of compassion, collaboration, and innovation. Essentia Health encourages interdisciplinary problem solving, open communication, and respect for diverse perspectives. In this position, you may serve patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations, depending on clinic needs. You will follow all regulatory and professional standards, maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record, and participate in quality improvement and outcome measurement initiatives. Essentia Health supports your professional growth through access to continuing education, mentorship, and opportunities to develop clinical specialties or leadership skills. You will be encouraged to stay current with advances in speech-language pathology, contribute to program development, and participate in case conferences, in-services, and team meetings. The organization promotes work-life balance and community involvement, allowing you to make a meaningful impact both within the clinic and in the communities we serve in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. This position is ideal for a dedicated SLP who thrives in a collaborative healthcare environment, is committed to evidence-based practice, and is passionate about helping patients improve communication and swallowing abilities. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing a diverse caseload, and adapting to changing patient needs while maintaining high standards of clinical care and professional ethics.
