POSITION SUMMARY
This is a recreation and parks position that provides coordination and supervision of youth and adult field hockey programs, leagues and payroll/contracted camps, lacrosse programs, and kickball, in addition to assisting divisional staff and leading divisional activities as required. Operates within a self-sustaining and teamwork environment.

$27.38 - $29.97 $56,925 - $62,327 CLASS
DESCRIPTION
Performs professional level recreation services work, which may include supervision, under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes overseeing the safe and efficient operation of activities at school and department recreational facilities, parks and private recreational facilities; or overseeing the operation of programs in specific functional areas under the direction of a recreation supervisor. Assists in analyzing marketing data for program promotion and customer service. Work also includes the supervision of contingent, part-time staff and volunteers; overseeing the approved budget; and preparing information for recreation supervisor for seasonal and fiscal reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Works and cooperates with co-workers and supervisors at all levels. Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately. Coordinates selected seasonal programs as assigned by supervisor. Provides direct leadership for camps, tournaments and lessons as deemed necessary. Provides customer service with regard to programming questions, as well as assist contractors/staff with participant information/supplies and materials. Prepares news release for upcoming programs. Coordinates with the Board of Education and county facilities to reserve program space and cancel when needed. Reviews all permits for conflicts. Provides customer service in regard to suitable programming, prepare program evaluations, and organizes comments/complaints. Prepare administrative paperwork necessary for contingent staff. Monitors the status of employee paperwork. Monitors the status of contractual arrangements. Participates in multiple division and departmental teams. Works with other divisional recreation coordinators as a team to accomplish tasks efficiently. Assists supervisor with purchasing, warehousing and delivery of equipment and supplies. Distributes marketing and promotional items. Inputs programs into the seasonal brochure, checks for accuracy on the Active.net database and creates program fliers. Updates seasonal program information on the web page, when necessary. Prepares budgets for all new and existing programs. Recruit, recommend for hire, train, schedule and supervise part-time program staff. With supervisory assistance, recruits, interviews and monitors leisure service providers. Negotiates service agreements; reviews and approves invoices for payment. Provides data for and reviews seasonal reports and monthly financial reports for accuracy and interpretation. Prepare letters and memos to instructors, staff, and participants. Prepare purchase requisitions and order logs. Frequently performs informal bids for large volume orders. Handle customer requests, inquiries and concerns. Review timecards and receipts for part-time staff. Employee is responsible for the accurate entry of all timecards into computerized system. Review accident/incident reports, determines severity and follows up with parents / participants. Conduct program and instructor observations, merges with participant comments for program review. Actual program responsibilities are subject to seasonal adjustments in demand. Prepares and monitors the progress of work orders with Park Operations staff. Works daily with school officials to assure optimal communication on space and scheduling issues. Responsible for identifying and applying good sustainability practices into all aspects of Department operations. This position may be deemed essential in an emergency at the discretion of the director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This employee does provide direct supervision to 12 to 40 contingent staff members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directly manages 5 to 25 leisure services providers each season.

Assists division staff and leads divisional activities as required. Operates within a self-sustaining and teamwork environment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Prefer a Bachelor's degree or two (2) years of college education in recreation, sports management, physical education or related fields of study with leadership experience in an outdoors setting. Proficient in recent Microsoft applications Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
