Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a privately held vocational education organization in Los Angeles, California. The right candidate will be comfortable working hands-on across core accounting functions while partnering with the team to improve accuracy, continuity, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely completion of financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee routine accounting activity, including accurate recording of day-to-day financial transactions.
• Perform account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations while investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Provide guidance and oversight for accounts payable operations, supporting a lean team structure and helping maintain workflow continuity.
• Deliver cross-training across accounting responsibilities to reduce key-person dependency and improve team coverage.
• Use advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data, prepare schedules, and support reporting needs for management.
• Identify issues affecting accounting system performance and work through transaction or reporting inconsistencies tied to current software tools.
• Support process improvement efforts by organizing accounting procedures and helping the finance function scale with company growth.
