Staff Accountant

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will support the organization's financial health by managing various accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting. Duties Prepare and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits across the general ledger Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to verify account balances and identify discrepancies Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Support internal controls compliance including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and audit preparations Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and double-entry bookkeeping methods Collaborate on budgeting, financial analysis, and account analysis to support strategic decision-making Experience Proven experience in governmental accounting environments Familiarity with payroll management systems is highly desirable Strong understanding of GAAP principles and technical accounting concepts Experience with public accounting firms or internships providing exposure to complex financial audits is advantageous Ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and journal entry preparation efficiently Demonstrated competence in financial concepts including budgeting, credit analysis, and account analysis Excellent math skills coupled with attention to detail for accurate financial data processing Join us as a Staff Accountant and become a key player in ensuring our financial integrity while advancing your career in a vibrant environment that champions growth, accuracy, and excellence.

$58,668.50 - $68,471.74 per year
