Kalkaska, Michigan Reports To:
Controller or Accounting Manager Job Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health of our operations by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, with a specialized focus on manufacturing cost analysis and inventory management for our life-saving body armor products. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a strong grasp of both GAAP and cost accounting.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger Management:
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and depreciation. Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Support the AP/AR process, including vendor invoice verification and customer inquiry resolution.
Commissions:
Calculate, report and pay sales representative commissions. Inventory Maintain accurate records of raw materials (e.g., Kevlar, ceramics), work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile physical stock to the general ledger.
Cost Accounting:
Analyze material yields and labor studies to create Bills of Material.
Required Skills & Qualifications Education:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Technical Skills:
High proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
Core Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify financial trends or discrepancies. Exceptional attention to detail, crucial for tracking sensitive materials and high-stakes production costs.
