Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Woodridge, Illinois on a Long-term Contract basis. This position plays a key role in supporting daily accounting activity, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping drive an efficient month-end close. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, solid Excel skills, and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with inventory-related accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage recurring accounting activities by preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and recording accrual and reclassification adjustments as part of the close cycle.
  • Perform detailed bank and account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items to keep financial data accurate and current.
  • Support accounts payable and other daily accounting tasks to ensure transactions are processed correctly and in alignment with company procedures.
  • Assist with month-end and periodic close activities by organizing supporting documentation and helping deliver timely financial results.
  • Contribute to internal financial reporting by compiling data, validating results, and assisting management with reporting needs.
  • Review financial activity to identify inconsistencies, research root causes, and recommend corrective action when needed.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to strengthen inventory accuracy through reconciliations, cycle count review, and oversight of inventory-related entries.
  • Help maintain effective accounting workflows and internal controls across general accounting and inventory processes.
  • Use accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Excel-based analysis tools to support reporting, reconciliation, and recordkeeping.
The salary range for this position is $25 to $35/hour, plus bonus. Benefits are available including medical, vision, and dental, and life and disability insurance.   • At least 7 years of accounting experience, including meaningful involvement in month-end close activities.
  • Demonstrated background in manufacturing or distribution accounting within a middle-market business environment.
  • Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, managing general ledger activity, and completing bank and account reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of accruals, reclassifications, financial reporting support, and day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Exposure to inventory accounting, inventory controls, and cycle count review is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working in accounting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and manage multiple priorities effectively.
