Job Description:
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking qualified candidates for Staff Assistant in the Office of Marketing and Communications (MarCom). Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Communications & Public Information and working closely with the Director of Special Events and Community Engagement, this in-person position will play a key role in SUNY Broome's marketing and event activities. The ideal candidate will be a versatile marketer, with experience coordinating professional events, and exceptional communication, organization, project and time management skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support day-to-day marketing projects and campaigns in the Office of Marketing & Communications (MarCom). Assist the Director of Special Events and Community Engagement in planning, coordinating, promoting and executing college events both on-campus and at the Culinary & Event Center. Provide comprehensive project management and technical support for marketing and events. Develop promotional content for the College's social media channels and website. Measure impact of marketing campaigns by using data and analytics. Attend college and community events as needed, including some evening and weekend events. Serve as a liaison for external vendors to order and purchase signage, promotional items, branded giveaways, and marketing materials. Work closely with professional staff and student workers. Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to support college events and initiatives. Managing mascot scheduling, appearances and events for Stinger the Hornet. Assist with managing and organizing college marketing assets and inventory, including photography, videography, and graphics.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, event management, business, or a closely related field, or an Associate's degree with the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills. A flexible schedule with ability to support occasional evening/weekend events as needed. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications:
A minimum of one year of experience in a role focused on marketing, communications, and/or events is preferred. Prior professional experience in higher education or hospitality settings. Knowledge and familiarity with higher education and/or the SUNY system. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with social media management and digital marketing campaigns. Knowledge of marketing analytics and campaigns. Experience working with or overseeing college student interns in a professional setting. Familiarity with AP-style writing and editing.
Additional Information:
The minimum annual salary for this position is $51,361. Salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
