Job Description

Startup & Commissioning Superintendent New Martinsville, WV Full-Time | Project-Based with Strong Potential for
Long-Term Role Compensation:
From $108,000 annually + retention bonuses Help launch a new advanced chemical manufacturing facility. TCL Specialties LLC is seeking an experienced Startup & Commissioning Superintendent to help bring our new advanced chemical manufacturing facility in New Martinsville, West Virginia online. This is a high-impact opportunity to lead late-stage commissioning, startup execution, procedure development, safe ramp-up, and early stabilization for a major greenfield operation. TCL's West Virginia site represents a significant Phase I investment and is part of a broader long-term expansion strategy, making this an especially attractive opportunity for a proven startup leader who wants to help build something from the ground up. This role is ideal for a hands-on operations leader with deep experience in continuous-process manufacturing, especially in chemical, petrochemical, refining, gas processing, power/utility, or related industrial operations. If you have led operators through startup, shutdown, troubleshooting, and safe operating readiness — and you thrive in the field rather than behind a desk — we want to hear from you. While this role is project-based, TCL is looking for a strong technical leader who can make an immediate impact during startup and be considered for future long-term opportunities as the facility transitions into steady-state operations and future growth phases. TCL's public reporting on the site emphasizes commissioning, startup, stabilization, and future expansion, which makes that path especially credible for the right candidate. What We Offer Starting compensation from $108,000 per year Retention bonus: $4,000 at 6 months and $4,000 at 1 year Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off 7 paid holidays Opportunity to play a leading role in commissioning and startup of a new plant Strong potential to transition into a long-term operations leadership role for a high-performing contributor What You'll Do Lead and support commissioning, startup, shutdown, troubleshooting, and early stabilization activities Direct daily field execution and coordinate operators/technicians toward startup and commissioning milestones Provide strong shift leadership in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment Develop, refine, and implement work instructions, SOPs, startup procedures, and operating parameters Support safe work execution in accordance with site safety requirements, including LOTO, confined space, line break, permitting, and regulatory compliance Maintain strong technical engagement with plant systems, including process equipment, utilities, boilers, turbines, electrical systems, and rotating/mechanical assets Identify and resolve startup issues quickly through sound troubleshooting and field decision-making Partner with maintenance, engineering, EHS, and plant leadership to keep startup work moving safely and efficiently Drive accountability for procedure adherence, operating discipline, communication, and quality Help establish strong operating standards that support long-term plant reliability and performance What Success Looks Like A strong performer in this role will: Build credibility quickly with operators, technicians, and cross-functional teams Keep startup work moving while maintaining a safety-first mindset Translate field conditions into practical operating guidance and procedures Stay calm and effective during troubleshooting, shifting priorities, and startup pressure Help move the plant from commissioning into stable, repeatable operations What You Bring Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 10+ years of progressive experience in continuous-process industrial operations such as chemical, petrochemical, refining, gas processing, power generation, utilities, specialty chemicals, polymers, or similar manufacturing environments Direct supervisory experience leading operators, technicians, or shift teams in an industrial setting Demonstrated experience supporting or leading startup, commissioning, plant ramp-up, major turnaround restart, or significant operating readiness activities Strong troubleshooting capability across process operations, equipment, and field conditions Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, safe work systems, and environmental/regulatory compliance Ability to lead teams in a demanding field environment and communicate clearly across shifts and functions Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or technical training in chemical process technology, engineering technology, or a related field Experience in a greenfield startup or major brownfield expansion Background in petrochemical or chemical manufacturing Working knowledge of boilers, turbines, utilities systems, electrical systems, rotating equipment, and process operations Experience writing or improving SOPs, work instructions, startup procedures, or operating standards Familiarity with startup readiness, operating discipline, and safe transition to steady-state operations Schedule 12-hour shifts Schedule will support startup and commissioning needs, including flexibility during critical execution periods Join Us TCL Specialties LLC is building more than a plant — we are building long-term capability in advanced materials and chemical manufacturing.
