Temporary, Seasonal Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and organized STEAM Camp Director to lead the successful delivery of high-quality summer camp program. This is a seasonal, summer-only position, requiring a mix of on-site leadership during camp sessions and virtual preparation beforehand. The director will oversee camp staff, deliver exceptional STEAM experiences to campers, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. We are looking for two camp directors for both the Riverhead, and Southampton camp locations.
Responsibilities:
Manage a small team of counselors, instructors, and volunteers to ensure high morale, energy, and performance throughout the camp. Oversee the delivery of pre-developed STEAM curricula and provide training to instructors both before, and during the camp season. Maintain communication with parents and guardians, handling questions and concerns professionally. Manage administrative tasks and logistical duties to ensure smooth camp operations. Serve as the on-site leader, addressing staff or camper issues as they arise (e.g., staff absences). Lead instructional workshops with students.
Qualifications:
A strong background in STEAM subjects is preferred (e.g., basic coding, 3D printing, robotics, and engineering). Minimum of 3+ years of experience in teaching and/or camp management preferred. Familiarity with classroom and behavior management.
Skills:
Solid leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, particularly with parents, guardians, and staff. Ability to maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive camp environment for campers and staff.
Work Environment:
Camp locations: Riverhead, NY & Southampton, NY. On-site leadership required during camp programming, with some minor virtual responsibilities during preparation. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, depending on activities. Responsibility for managing camp staff and addressing unforeseen challenges that relate to camp operations.
