Full-Time Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Access, Research, and Learning Services, the STEM Librarian provides leadership in the design, delivery, and assessment of research, instruction, and outreach services that support STEM disciplines. This position works collaboratively with faculty, researchers, students, and other campus partners to integrate information literacy, data literacy, and emerging research practices into STEM teaching and learning. The successful candidate will deliver orientations and instructional programming that support the effective use of library services and resources by students and faculty, employing workshops, course-integrated instruction, online instructional materials, online tutorials, and other innovative, technology-enhanced approaches to advance engagement and research productivity in STEM disciplines. The STEM Librarian will serve one day a week at the John D. Macarthur Campus Library in Jupiter to support the research initiatives of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI), Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, and STEM faculty and students at that campus (using the Libraries' state vehicle (if desired)), and the remaining days at the S.E. Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton Campus.Minimum Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years' experience in academic or special libraries as a STEM librarian. Experience conducting scoping reviews. Demonstrates ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member and team leader where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and cooperation are essential. Demonstrates strong organization skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and exceptional work ethic. Ability to analyze and adapt to change in an ever-evolving and rapidly growing institution.Preferred Qualifications:
Second Master's degree or doctorate or in process. Undergraduate or graduate degree in a STEM field. Minimum 5 years' experience in academic or higher education as a STEM librarian. Experience with data literacy, research data management, or computational research tools. Knowledge of emerging technologies and research tools relevant to STEM disciplines. Knowledge of research data lifecycle concepts, including data discovery, organization, documentation, preservation, and sharing. Experience with patent searching strategies, intellectual property resources, and tools used to support innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer in STEM disciplines. Experience supporting graduate students, doctoral researchers, or funded research projects. Knowledge of research impact metrics, bibliometrics, and altmetrics relevant to STEM disciplines. Knowledge of scholarly communication and OER issues and trends. Experience collaborating with faculty and other campus stakeholders. Demonstrates strong collaborative skills to work alongside faculty, students, and external researchers. Higher education outreach and engagement experience. Demonstrates sustained record of scholarship, research, and/or creative endeavors. Demonstrates sustained record of service on committees, including professional committees, and coordinating projects. Knowledge of institutional repositories such as Digital Commons. Experience working with an integrated library system (ILS) and discovery tool (e.g., Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE). Experience using a Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas). Experience in a consortial or multi-campus academic environment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience using learning management systems. Demonstrates service commitment in leadership roles on committees, contributing to the profession through significant professional service. Demonstrates sustained scholarship, research, and creative endeavors, contributing to the profession through peer-reviewed publications in librarianship and presentations at regional or national library-related conferences. Demonstrates initiative and strong project management skills in leading significant projects. Demonstrates commitment to actively participating in library engagement activities.
