Sterile Processing Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the SPD supervisor, performs assigned duties concerned with decontaminating, processing, assembling, storing and distributing sterile instruments, supplies and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school education or the equivalent is preferred. Must be able to speak clearly, read and write legibly. 2. Previous or related experience not essential but preferred. Must be willing to learn all aspects of the sterilization and distribution process. 3. Must have general good health and be able to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach, lift and carry light to heavy articles. Must be capable of following specific instructions. 4. Must be willing to perform repetitive tasks and follow exact procedures to assure safe and properly prepared product for use in patient care. 5. Must adhere to employment procedures of this hospital.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

1. Reports to SPD Supervisor; receives instructions pertaining to all procedures and dress codes required in this position. 2. Work closely with other Sterile Techs; works indirectly and occasionally directly with Surgery, Emergency Room, and Obstetrics Personnel.
