Job Description

Noonday Market is owned by Gun Lake Investments ("GLI"), an Economic Development Corporation owned by the Gun Lake Tribe. Noonday Market is part of a vibrant tribal community and exists to help that community thrive. Chief Noonday was an exemplary leader who worked to enhance his tribal community. We strive to carry on his spirit of leadership by empowering the tribal community we're a part of. Noonday Market is a Fuel Center and Convenience Store located in Shelbyville, MI, across the street from the Gun Lake Casino.
Who You Are :
You are a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys building strong teams, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and driving operational success. You lead from the front, are highly visible on the sales floor, and know how to balance customer service, team development, and business performance. You are organized, accountable, and comfortable making quick decisions while managing multiple priorities. You take pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and efficient store environment and understand the importance of both operational discipline and relationship-building within the local community.
What You'll Do :
As the Store Manager, you will oversee all daily store operations while ensuring exceptional service, strong financial performance, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Director of Campus Operations, and working alongside the J&H District Manager, you will lead store execution through a collaborative dual-support structure focused on both campus-level success and retail best practices.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Foster a customer-first culture that delivers friendly, efficient, and consistent service
  • Lead by example by actively supporting staff and engaging with customers
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop a high-performing team
  • Manage scheduling, labor utilization, payroll, and staffing needs
  • Drive sales growth through merchandising, product availability, and operational execution
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store and fuel forecourt
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering, stock levels, and shrink prevention
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Monitor store performance including sales, labor costs, expenses, and operational metrics
  • Execute company initiatives and operational strategies to meet revenue and profitability goals
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to food handling, fuel operations, safety, and labor standards
  • Conduct operational audits and maintain a safe environment for employees and customers
  • Build positive relationships within the local community and identify marketing opportunities that increase traffic and visibility What We're Looking for in a
Candidate:
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a convenience store, fuel station, or high-volume retail environment
  • Direct supervision experience managing teams of 10 or more employees
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work in a 24/7 environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
  • Experience managing budgets, labor, inventory, and operational reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, POS systems, and inventory management systems
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, prioritize effectively, and work independently
  • Professional demeanor with a strong customer-focused mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ten (10)+ years of convenience store or fuel retail management experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience managing high-volume retail locations
  • Experience working within a Tribe-owned business, family business, or private equity environment
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Class
A & B EPA
