Job Overview Join our dynamic Street Department team and play a vital role in maintaining and improving our community's infrastructure! As a Street Department worker, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, performing construction and maintenance tasks, and ensuring safe, efficient roadways and public spaces. Duties Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, and dump trucks to perform street repairs, paving, grading, and excavation projects Assist in construction activities including road building, sidewalk installation, and utility line placement with precision and safety in mind Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction begins Maintain and inspect equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met Support paving operations by preparing surfaces, spreading asphalt, and finishing surfaces to high-quality standards Collaborate with team members on construction site projects to meet deadlines and project specifications Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and others Qualifications Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or similar machinery is highly preferred Knowledge of construction practices related to street maintenance, paving, or utility installation is a plus Ability to operate Caterpillar equipment or similar heavy machinery confidently and safely Strong understanding of construction site safety standards and procedures Experience with utility locating techniques is advantageous Physical stamina to perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions for extended periods Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL certification is a plus but not required initially Join us if you're ready to bring your skills in heavy equipment operation and construction to a team dedicated to building safer streets!
