Agency Dept of Administration Division Administration Job Classification Title Engineer III (NS) Position Number Grade NC20 About Us The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, maintaining facilities, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally, the department manages many of the state's advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.
Description of Work Key Responsibilities:
This Position will review and approve for bidding design and construction documents related to the structural and civil engineering aspects of Capital improvement projects.This includes:
Verify scope and estimated costs of projects with the contract requirements and the appropriate funds. Efficient and proper use of space, form, and materials of buildings and building site. Check the level of completion, accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness of plans and specifications. Indicate corrections and suggest improvements and revisions. Economy in initial costs and long-term maintenance. Energyefficientsystemsandenergyconservationmeasuresinconstruction. Appropriate selection, specification, and use of all materials. CompliancewithNCBuildingCodesandapplicableNCGeneralStatutesonpublicwork. Conformance of the contractual bid package with State Construction Office guidelines, policies, and procedures. Coordination of the plans and documents among the other engineering disciplines. Project cannot proceed to bid without State Construction Office approval according toGS 143-341
