Structural Steel Fitter/Welder

KDM Steelworks, Inc. is a structural steel, misc metals fabricator that has established an outstanding reputation for safety, quality, and productivity in the field of steel fabrication. We are located near the Rocky Mountains in the heart of Loveland Colorado. We are currently looking for experienced and dependable full-time fitter/fabricators. The shop schedule is 6am to 4:45pm Monday through Thursday with overtime on Fridays.

Job Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Must be over 18 with a valid driver's license. Ability to read blue prints and fit steel assemblies. This includes beams, columns, tubes, angles, angle frames, stairs, etc. 3G MIG Welding test, unlimited. You will potentially be tested at our shop, once through the interview process.

Experience:

Three plus (3+) years in a

Structural Steel Fitting/Fabricating Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

English communication (written & verbal) skills; Ability to receive/read instructions and implement specific instructions; Ability to review prints; Ability to figure angle/pitch from rise & run; Must have basic understanding of angles; Knowledge of all welding types performed at KDM Steelworks, Inc. - stick, mig, and tig; Welding certifications preferred; Knowledge of all cutting types - Band Saw, Torch, Plasma, and Shear; Knowledge of notching, punching, and Press Brake functions; Knowledge of different material types (e.g. carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum.) Standing for long periods of time, with the majority of the time spent in a machine and fabrication shop environment. Walking is required within the office and shop areas. This position also requires turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, fingers, use of eyes. Due to the responsibilities of production, must lift up to 75 lbs. Responsibilities and Duties Read and follow drawings for each project. Fit steel assemblies together per plans for the project. Weld steel assemblies per plans and AWS specs. Ensure that product standards, both as to quality and quantity are met. Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, material on drawings and follow quality checks. Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with welding machines/ hand tools, etc. Maintain a positive attitude with all employees, vendors, and customers. Other tasks as requested by the Shop Foreman or Production Manager. We do not install or do any field work.
