Job Description

Structures Mechanic
  • Test Operations (Aerospace / Propulsion) Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Structures Mechanic to support advanced aerospace test operations, including flight hardware, propulsion systems, and development engines .
This role is hands-on and mission-critical, involving the assembly, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of structural and electromechanical systems in a fast-paced testing environment. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable execution of test operations , while contributing to process improvements and hardware readiness for flight. Key Responsibilities Prepare and configure test articles, test stands, and support systems for engine and hardware testing Perform structural repairs, assembly, and fabrication of aerospace hardware and support equipment Execute post-test inspections and evaluations to ensure flight readiness and compliance Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electromechanical systems, instrumentation, and test equipment Support testing of flight and development engines , including setup, operation, and teardown Maintain and repair high-pressure systems, cryogenic equipment, pneumatic systems, and associated components Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Collaborate closely with engineering teams to develop, document, and optimize test processes Perform calibration, validation, and data collection to support testing and quality standards Ensure all materials, components, and assemblies meet cleanliness and inspection requirements (ISO or aerospace standards) Process work orders, maintenance requests, and inventory tracking Participate in rigging and crane operations (bridge cranes, mobile lifts) for hardware movement Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase test efficiency, reliability, and safety Required Skills & Experience Core Qualifications Proven experience in airframe structural repair and aerospace assembly Hands-on experience with aviation electronics and avionics systems Strong background in test operations, testing procedures, and process optimization Experience with flight or development engines preferred Solid mechanical aptitude with ability to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems Proficiency using: Hand and power tools Torque tools Multimeters and oscilloscopes Technical Competencies Electromechanical troubleshooting and repair Electrical systems (circuits, wiring, instrumentation) Fabrication and modification of aerospace components Blueprint and schematic interpretation Data collection and validation processes Calibration and diagnostics Preferred (Nice to Have) FAA A&P license Experience in ISO 9001 or similar quality environments Experience in electromechanics, engineering support, or test environments Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily outdoor work on test stands , with some indoor shop work Exposure to: Extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) Hazardous environments (noise, fumes, pressurized systems) Required use of advanced
PPE:
Supplied-air respirators Chemical-resistant suits Must be able to: Lift up to 25 lbs unassisted Work at heights up to 300 ft with appropriate safety equipment Perform work in tight or confined spaces
Schedule & Travel Day Shift:
6:30 AM

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00
  • $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
