The Student Accessibility Services Director leads the Institute's efforts to ensure equitable access and opportunity for students with disabilities, serving as the primary subject matter expert on compliance and best practices related to the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Fair Housing Act. The Director oversees permanent and temporary medical accommodations, reviews and evaluates disability documentation, determines eligibility for reasonable accommodations, and engages directly with students to understand their needs and functional limitations. This role manages confidential student records in compliance with FERPA, utilizes Maxient to support accommodation workflows and case management, and ensures clear, consistent processes for requesting and implementing accommodations. In partnership with campus colleagues, the Director provides guidance and consultation to promote accessibility, equity, and institutional compliance. As a key contributor to Student Affairs leadership, the Director supports divisional and Institute priorities through an accessibility and belonging lens. The position serves on the Rose CARES Behavioral Intervention Team, collaborates with campus partners to support student well-being and success, and identifies accessibility-related needs and barriers to inform institutional planning and decision-making. The Director also represents the department and divisional leadership on Institute committees, working groups, and at campus functions, helping advance Rose-Hulman's commitment to inclusive excellence. Qualified candidates must hold a master's degree in social sciences, higher education, special education, or a related field and have five to seven years of experience working in an Accessibility or Disability Services setting. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to review and analyze a wide variety of disability documentation, including psychometric testing, medical and psychological evaluations, self‑reports, and related materials, in order to determine eligibility for reasonable post‑secondary accommodations. A strong understanding of the differences between high school and higher education accommodation processes is required, along with knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility practices, and disability‑related laws. Candidates must possess strong counseling and advising skills, be able to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate excellent analytical, organizational, project management, time management, and computer skills. Active professional engagement through membership in the Indiana Association on Higher Education and Disability (Indiana AHEAD) is required. Preferred candidates will have eight or more years of experience in Accessibility or Disability Services across special education and/or higher education settings. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds. Salary range is $68,000 - $88,000. Salary is competitive. A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
