The Student Services Coordinator supports districtwide student services operations by serving as a central point of coordination for enrollment, transfers, attendance compliance, student records, and specialized student populations. This position works closely with district leadership, schools, and community partners to ensure efficient processes, regulatory compliance, and responsive service to families.RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the initial point of contact for the Student Services office Respond to and route daily phone calls, parent inquiries, and community questions Triage and direct student-related concerns to appropriate departments or staff Monitor intra (internal) and inter (non-resident) district transfer requests/enrollment Support the work of the District's Public Information Officer, Asst. Supt. of Operations and Student Services Director to communicate about enrollment and registration timelines Manage JustFOIA platform (intra/inter request software) for transfer processing Communicate intra (internal) and inter (non-resident) enrollment decisions to families and buildings Maintain the Washington State Choice Transfer Request Portal Coordinate overflow placements and enrollment logistics across schools Maintain district shuttle lists and coordinate with transportation Support the Assistant Superintendent during elementary staffing processes Serve as district liaison for McKinney-Vento (homeless) and foster youth programs Coordinate transportation and support services for eligible students Schedule/coordinate Best Interest Determination meetings Monitor student outcomes and program effectiveness for McKinney-Vento and Foster Youth Serve as the district homeschool liaison Track, research, and respond to school inquiries related to transfers, shuttles, attendance, discipline, and placement options (homeschool/ALE) Monitor, track, and coordinate Open Doors program placements Coordinate and complete required end-of-year ALE reporting Monitor school attendance trends and ensure compliance with state truancy laws Serve as district liaison to Juvenile Court for truancy matters Coordinate intervention supports for students and families Serve as a liaison to families to connect them with district and community resources Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations Participate in community boards and outreach efforts Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support student services programs Maintain and monitor district discipline data, including exclusionary practices Collaborate with data processors to ensure accurate state reporting via the Comprehensive Education Data and Research System CEDARS Track and analyze disproportionality in student discipline outcomes Monitor exclusionary discipline documentation Process and coordinate requests for archived student records and transcripts Ensure compliance with records retention and confidentiality requirements Coordinate supplies and equipment ordering for school nurses Provide general coordination support across Student Services initiatives and perform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, education, or a related field High level of attention to detail, initiative and the ability to complete work in an accurate and timely manner Proficient with variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office, and other web-based programs Ability to identify routine problems and propose feasible solutions, make improvements or take corrective action Ability to prioritize work and multi-task effectively Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand Must be team oriented but also able to work independently Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services and demonstrated ability to work in a positive manner with staff and patrons Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload and work under pressure in an environment with multiple, simultaneous tasks Experience working within an educational system preferred Knowledge of Washington State education laws related to attendance, truancy, and student services preferred Experience with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool) preferred Familiarity with CEDARS reporting and compliance requirements preferred Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. As outlined by the Policies and Procedures of Mead School District. Mead policies and Procedures can be accessed online at https://www.mead354.org/about-us/board-of-directors/board-policies The salary range for the position is: Min $33.16•Max $45.93 Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position. Previous relevant experience may result in higher step placement within the posted range. A typical work year consists of 260 days which includes 13 paid holidays. The individual number of days may vary by position as posted. Employees working less than 260 days will receive holiday pay for the scheduled holidays within the months worked. Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. A maximum of three (3) days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employee's scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours. Unused Annual Leave is cashed out every July. Full-Time Employees working year-round (260 days) shall accumulate up to 25 Days (200 hours) of vacation annually. Up to 40 hours may be cashed out annually in July if the balance is above 240 hours. Balances over 280 hours as of July 1 will be forfeited prior to the new year's accrual. Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.APPLICATION
