Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology Preference experience in working with schools and/or families preferredKnowledge, SkillsAbilities :
Supports high-risk students by working with studentstheir families to identify and address any social-emotional-environmental issues that interfere with the student's academic progress. To work with the community to implement strategies that promote positive school adjustment.Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Identifies and assesses academic problems through analyzing factors of student adjustment, including factors in the home, school, and community. Serves as a liaison between families and the school to promote a collaborative process in student successful social-emotional-environmental planning; provides referrals to other agencies as necessary Serves as a liaison between families and other community support agencies to promote a collaborative process for student's successful social-emotional-environmental planning. Coordinates and conducts individual and group counseling sessions for students and their families. Provide expertise and training based on experience and current research on social-emotional-environmental issues. Communicatemaintain positive rapport and positive working environment with principals, staff, and the public. Provides staff consultation and support on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues. Participate in ongoing personal professional development to remain current on theory, research, and trends. Develop and implement programs to address parent/guardian participation in the school and student engagement in the educational process. Provides accurate and timely local, state, and federal reports as required. Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Schools and/or Director of Student Services.Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise persons completing practicum or internship through a college or university program.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
