Substation Wireman

The Substation Wireman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical equipment within high-voltage power substations and switchyards. This role involves working with complex electrical systems, including high-voltage transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and control wiring. The Wireman ensures all work complies with safety standards (OSHA, NEC) and utility company specifications to provide reliable energy distribution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of experience performing journey-level electrician, wireman, , meterman, or substation maintenance duties. Successful completion of a Wireman Apprentice program or approved equivalent. Special Requirements Driver's license valid in Oregon, with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical. Working knowledge of computers and software, including the Microsoft Office suite. Live within 30 minutes of McMinnville Water & Light, for emergency response. Possession of a Journey Wireman certificate. Strong understanding of AC/DC circuits, power system components, and electrical codes. Preferred Qualifications Three years of experience in electric utility maintenance and repair is preferred.
