Newton Community School District Bus Driver Salary Schedule for 2026-2027(wages will soon be updated)

Hourly Route Substitute Base Pay:

$32.72 Routes are approximately 3 hours per day.

Hourly Activity Trip/Field Trip Pay:

$20.55 Additional hours available year round for activity trips and extracurricular activities.

• Hired applicants must be able to pass both the DCI criminal history background check and the prework physical requirements.

Qualifications:

Valid and/or eligible to hold a CDL drivers license to operate a school bus as required by State Law with passenger "P" and airbrake endorsements. Driver must have a good driving record. Driver must comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and obtain/sustain US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate Hired applicants must be able to pass the DCI background check and prework physical requirements.

Performance Responsibilities:

Be responsible for passengers safety, welfare, discipline, and protection. Report any problems or unusual occurrences to the Transportation Supervisor. Adhere to all federal, state, local, and school district regulations, including random drug/alcohol testing. The Human Resources Office will receive notification that the application has been submitted. HR will then send the DCI Background check form to the applicant. Upon approval from DCI, applicant will receive information about the substitute onboarding process.
