Provost Departments Job Summary The programming student worker works with the full-time Scholarly Teaching staff at the Center for Integrated Professional Development in their mission to support evidence-informed instruction on campus. This role is an opportunity for graduate students to explore the field of educational development by gaining hands-on experience performing directed research into teaching and consultations with graduate teaching assistants. The responsibilities of the Scholarly Teaching student worker will include the following: 1. Work with full-time Center staff on the design and implementation of professional development events and programs for Illinois State University faculty, including, but not limited to, New Faculty Orientation, the University Teaching and Learning Symposium, professional development programming, and other events. 2. Work with full-time Center staff on the design, implementation, and co-facilitation of professional development events and programs for graduate teaching assistants at Illinois State University, including the Future Faculty Learning Community and Course Design for Future Faculty. 3. Conduct directed or independent research on various teaching-related issues and develop artifacts to disseminate findings under the guidance of Scholarly Teaching staff (e.g., white paper, annotated bibliography, web content, videos, etc.). 4. Work with graduate teaching assistants on issues related to teaching and learning and provide pedagogical support, including Small Group Instructional Diagnoses (Midterm Chats). 5. Engage in projects related to evidence-informed pedagogy with Scholarly Teaching staff. 6. Other duties as assigned. Additional Information Student employees are eligible to participate in the University's 403(b) Plan. More information can be found here . Pay Rate $21.50/hour Required Qualifications 1. Must be a degree-seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in English, Communication, Education Admin and Foundations, Teaching and Learning, or Psychology 2. Teaching experience or other experiences working with college-age or adult learners Preferred Qualifications 1. Demonstrated experience designing, planning, and/or facilitating professional development programs, events, or initiatives. 2. Experience developing effective workshop resources or training materials that support participant learning and engagement in professional development initiatives. 3. Graduate student who is seeking a terminal degree. Work Hours 20 hours per week. Hours will be arranged with our assistant directors within Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Functional Expectations Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: -Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
