$2,750 stipend for the summer Job Overview Join Bronx House's vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Counselor and ignite the spirit of adventure, learning, and growth in young minds! In this dynamic role, you will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children in grades 1-10 can explore new activities, develop essential skills, and build lasting friendships. Your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire campers to embrace their individuality while fostering teamwork, creativity, and confidence throughout the summer season. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact while gaining valuable experience in childcare, education, and youth development. Duties Lead and supervise daily camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater performances, outdoor games, and swimming to ensure fun and safety for all participants Manage group dynamics with effective classroom management techniques to promote positive behavior and cooperation among children of diverse ages and backgrounds Provide first aid when necessary, following proper protocols to address minor injuries or health concerns promptly Support children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance by implementing tailored strategies aligned with early childhood education principles Foster a nurturing environment by engaging children in age-appropriate educational activities that promote childhood development and social-emotional growth Support and accompany campers on field trips and all-camp events Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and all-camp events Qualifications Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp programs is highly desirable Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies to support positive growth Certifications in first aid and CPR are preferred; willingness to obtain these certifications upon hiring is required Strong classroom management skills combined with patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with kids Ability to adapt activities for children with special education needs or behavioral challenges effectively Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and connect with campers' families Ability to work outdoors and be active for extended periods Join us this summer to create memorable experiences that inspire confidence and joy in every child!
