Dragon's Den is a dynamic youth development center located in the heart of Homestead, PA, inside the historic St. Mary Magdalene's building. Our one-of-a-kind facility features suspended obstacle courses, climbing walls, and zip lines alongside innovative programming in after-school and summer camp settings. We serve youth from diverse backgrounds through programming rooted in three core pillars: Physical & Nutrition, Academics, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Our mission is to build confidence, resilience, and social-emotional intelligence in every young person we serve. We also prioritize mental wellness—for both youth and staff—through training grounded in positive psychology and intentional decision-making practices.Position Summary:
Dragon's Den is seeking experienced, motivated, and compassionate individuals to join our team as Lead Summer Camp Counselors . This leadership role is ideal for candidates who have prior experience working with youth and are ready to take on additional responsibility guiding both campers and staff. Lead Counselors play a key role in shaping the daily camp experience by overseeing activities, supporting junior staff, and ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for all participants. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing careers in education, youth development, recreation, or social services who want hands-on leadership experience.Schedule:
June 10- August 7 Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM
- 4:30 PM Includes 5 days of paid training Opportunity for additional pre
- and post-camp work
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a group of campers, ensuring active engagement and participation Plan, coordinate, and facilitate structured, age-appropriate activities aligned with camp themes Provide guidance and mentorship to camp counselors and junior staff Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive behavior of all campers Assist with daily schedules, transitions, and activity flow Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, and parents/guardians as needed Support conflict resolution and model positive behavior management strategies Maintain organized, clean, and safe program spaces Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and enthusiasmQualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's preferred) Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with children or in a camp/education setting Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage groups of children in active environments Team-oriented with the ability to take initiative Must pass required background checksWhat We Offer:
