As per the CSEA Contract Job Summary Tuckahoe Union Free School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to serve as Summer Part-Time Cleaner at William E. Cottle Elementary School. Successful candidates will support the Facilities Department in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while preparing school buildings and classrooms for the upcoming academic year. This position requires an individual who is reliable, able to work independently and collaboratively, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout district facilities. Job Description The Summer Part-Time Cleaner works under the supervision of the Facilities Department to assist with the cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of school buildings during the summer months. Responsibilities include deep-cleaning classrooms and common areas, moving furniture and equipment, assisting with summer program setups, and ensuring all spaces are properly sanitized and organized for student and staff use. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to complete physical tasks in a safe and efficient manner while contributing positively to the school community. Job Responsibilities Deep-clean classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors as needed Wash windows, walls, desks, lockers, and other surfaces Disinfect high-touch areas and sanitize facilities according to district protocols Remove trash, recycling, and debris from school buildings and grounds Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as necessary Assist with setup and breakdown of classrooms and school spaces for summer programs or building projects Identify and report maintenance concerns, damages, or safety hazards Follow all district safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and workplace expectations Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment Work collaboratively with custodial and facilities staff to complete assigned tasks efficiently Support the overall preparation of school facilities for the upcoming academic year Qualifications Required Qualifications Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds, standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and moving equipment Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks thoroughly and efficiently Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety Preferred Qualifications Prior custodial, maintenance, or cleaning experience preferred, but not required Familiarity with cleaning equipment and cleaning supplies Experience working in a school or institutional setting is a plus Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Tuckahoe Union Free School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
